June at Burland (June 14, 2009)
Burland at it's best, visitors have started arriving, new life in abundance and farm life and wildlife intermingle on the croft. One of the new experiences on the croft for the visiting children is Rua, the caddie Tamworth piglet, he has been hand reared by Mary and is an exciting and interesting addition to the croft trail.
The hens are busy are looking after thier young chicks
And we have a large number of wild birds successfully breeding and bringing out young on the Burland beaches including, Tirricks, Shalders and Dunters. Tirricks are nesting n a certain part of the beach where we have never seen them nest before. All this of course means we have to have to be extra careful and aware of the birds and thier young when visiting the croft. Below is a Tirricks nest with three eggs in it.
Our Faroese geese enjoying a wet afternoon on the sea.
